OUR ETHOS
Mother Nacre, pronounced /nay-ker/, takes its name from nacre, the iridescent inner layer of a shell, also known as mother of pearl. Pearls symbolize a deep connection to the divine feminine and motherhood, embodying the remarkable and magical journey of growing life. Each pearl is formed over time, protected within her mollusk, through adding layer upon layer of nacre. The spiritual symbolism of a pearl’s birth so beautifully mirrors our own journeys. Our collection, spanning one-of-a-kind baroque pearl, cabochon, and gemstone jewelry, as well as seasonal treasures such as wool and cashmere knits, airy linens, and finely crafted leather and woven goods in straw and natural fibers, reflects our reverence for the natural world.
FROM MY HEART TO YOURS
I’m Julia, owner and creator of Mother Nacre. Throughout my life, I’ve been drawn to earthy, calming colors and wabi-sabi-esque objects—an aesthetic that celebrates imperfection and simplicity. My admiration for baroque pearls, one-of-a-kind objects and natural fibers is a testament to the beauty I see in organic, imperfect shapes and the stories they tell, all of which play an integral role in what inspires me. The process of creation is an invaluable channel for me to bring idea seeds to realization, and to allow my creative musings to take shape, much like the creation of Mother Nacre.

Each Mother Nacre piece is one of a kind, designed and handcrafted in California, with every element thoughtfully sourced and selected. We use natural silk thread, one of the finest fibers in the world, along with precious metals like 925 sterling silver, solid 14k gold as well as gold-fill to complement our cabochon designs and genuine baroque pearls, each unique in shape, size, hue, and luster. Our collection also includes other beautiful treasures, all created and sourced with the same dedication to natural beauty, celebrating sacred artistry in every thread, texture, and form.
